Not only is it absurdly simple, all parts are easily replaceable and readily available. I think I’ve owned mine for 15 years & spent 5 dollars on electricity to operate it in that time.

You don’t need use distilled water, when the humidifier gets dirty or you suffer mineral build up you can remove the fan & run everything through the dishwasher. After a few weeks the reservoir does get a little gunky from all the dust and dirt it has sucked out of the air.
